Background Music Guide

← Back to Getting Started with Self Hypnosis

Background music is an important part of many self hypnosis sessions. While the spoken guidance remains the main focus, music can help create a calmer atmosphere, support relaxation, and make the overall experience feel more immersive and natural.

With Smart Sessions, you can choose from a range of background music tracks and adjust how prominent the music feels during the session.

You can also listen without music if you prefer, although many people find that background music helps them settle more comfortably into the experience.

Why Background Music Is Used

Background music can help in several ways:

  • It creates a calmer listening environment
  • It helps maintain a steady flow throughout the session
  • It can reduce awareness of outside distractions
  • It supports a more immersive experience
  • It helps transitions within the session feel smoother and more natural

The music is designed to support the spoken content rather than compete with it. The voice always remains the main focus of the session.

Choosing a Music Track

Different music tracks can create slightly different moods or atmospheres.

Some people prefer soft, flowing music that feels deeply calming and peaceful. Others may prefer lighter, brighter, or more spacious sounding tracks. There is no “correct” choice, and different styles may suit different situations or moods.

Over time, you may find yourself naturally drawn to certain tracks, or you may simply enjoy varying them occasionally to keep sessions feeling fresh.

You can preview the available tracks below and choose whichever feels most comfortable or relaxing to you.

Available Background Music Tracks

Here are the available background music options we have:

Dreamland

Edge of Paradise

Floating Stars

Golden Seashore

Heart Song

Just Let Go

Meditation Melody

Peaceful Soul

Reflections

Rising Light

The Magic Garden

Tranquil Trance

Music Volume Options

You can also adjust the background music volume in relation to the spoken voice.

High

The music is more noticeable and creates a stronger atmospheric background.

Medium

A balanced level between the voice and the music. This is the default setting.

Low

A softer, more subtle layer beneath the spoken guidance.

Off

No background music will be included.

Most people prefer Medium or Low volume, especially when listening regularly. If the music feels distracting at first, reducing the volume often helps create a more comfortable balance.

Listening Without Music

All Smart Sessions can also be used without background music.

Some people prefer listening this way. However, our sessions are generally designed with background music in mind, so listening without music may feel slightly different in tone or pacing.

Binaural Beats

Some Smart Sessions also allow you to include gentle binaural beats alongside the background music.

Binaural beats are subtle audio tones designed to support relaxation and mental focus. Some people enjoy using them, while others prefer not to, which is why they are optional and turned off by default.

You do not need to use binaural beats for the sessions to be effective. They are simply an additional option available if you find them helpful or enjoyable.

Finding What Works Best for You

There is no perfect music track or setting that works for everyone.

The most important thing is simply choosing an option that feels comfortable and allows you to relax without distraction.

Many people start with the standard settings and experiment gradually over time. Others quickly discover a favourite combination that they continue using regularly.

Both approaches are completely fine.

The goal of Smart Sessions is not to complicate the experience, but to give you a little more flexibility in how your sessions feel and fit into your routine.
